As the threat of terrorism continues, protecting our air bases and airports at home, and our Air Force bases across the globe is a challenging task. The RSS-2015 Cable Trap Barrier provides a solution for integrated base defense and added security for fighting aircraft and high value assets. The Cable Trap Barrier is designed to provide DOS K-12 rated barrier-stopping capability along Airway Taxiway Gaps and Aircraft Parking Areas at the touch of a button.

The RSS-2015 Cable Trap Barrier Barrier is engineered to stop a vehicle weighing 15,000 lbs., traveling at 50 mph. in lengths of 200 ft. or more, using 3/4 inch cables.

The RSS-2015 Cable Trap Barrier is a non-hydraulic, fully self-contained system. It is housed in a 1/2 inch welded steel vault with a 4-inch x 4-inch x 1/2-inch removable square bollard post that is installed every 15 feet. Four cables are lifted by the automatic bollard posts, providing an instant elevated barrier for a taxiway gap of up to 600 feet. In a down position, bollard posts and cables are level with the concrete surface, allowing a smooth rolling surface for taxiing aircraft. The entire unit is corrosion resistant with an anti-skid surface.

The RSS-2015 Cable Trap Barrier remains flush with the surface in the down position. You can go from an open taxiway to a closed taxiway condition in a few seconds. With this system, Base Command is in total control of vehicle access at all times. This system is currently installed at Robbins AFB in Georgia.

Installation is simple, requiring a pit to install the self-contained vault with concrete poured around the perimeter flush with the existing taxiway. In the event of a malfunction or power outage, the bollard posts and cables can be raised manually, or with auxiliary power.
